Parul Bouvart (b. 1989, New Delhi, India) is globally active interdisciplinary artist whose practice is deeply engaged with ideas of intimacy, power, memory, and inherited social structures in the fields of video, performance, and installation work. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from New York: Pratt Institute, and a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Maharaja Sayaji Rao University of Baroda, India. During graduate school, she won a Merit Academic Excellence Scholarship and was named the first Teaching Fellow at Franklin Furnace to be recognised for her contributions to experimental and socially engaged art practices.

Bouvart's work has appeared in international magazines, including Hyperallergic, Studio Visit Magazine, Art Reveal, Ubiquitous Art, and Suboart Magazines. Her art projects are acclaimed, and criticised, for emotionally touched, politically activist work and for her experimental use of performative and tactile materials. Over the past decade she has featured performances, installations, and video work in South Korea, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Australia, the United States, Argentina, and India, in events like the Venice Art Biennale, National Gallery of Modern Art in India, and Museum KOT-DEUNG in South Korea, as well as the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts in New York, Salon des L’arts Plastiques in Paris, and Treehouse NDSM in Amsterdam.

Bouvart´s practice also interrogates patriarchy, memory, and power in intimate, embodied work and uses them to transform personal stories into feminist, socially engaged encounters. Her subjects have been vulnerability, resistance, and political agency. She currently lives and works in France.
